David's Report from New Zealand—22 February 2012

David Davidson sends the following report from New Zealand: Challenge Wanaka is an iconic New Zealand Ironman distance race which is set in a beautiful mountainous region of South Island. Fortunately it also features a half Ironman distance race which runs in conjunction with a 5-day triathlon festival. There are “give it a go” short taster races, children's races and elite athlete races for the professionals which always attracts a significant international field. Pretty challenging hilly bike leg follows a chilly lake swim with the run leg on tracks around the lake. Fabulous atmosphere with huge local support and a finishers' brunch the following day makes this a great experience and certainly one that will stick in the memory!
